Painting exhibition - Pascale Thovex
Since the late 1970s, she lives in Haute-Savoie, in the sumptuous setting of a high glacial valley where unspoilt wilderness and active pastoralism coexist harmoniously.

Animal art is the centre of gravity of her painting. She has trained in courses and seminars with Brigitte Despraz and Jo'Songa, alternating sustained practice with courses in oil painting (Moscow with Michael Lebedev), grotesque (Rome) and calligraphy.

Through these activities and in her own environment, she has enriched her approach to animal painting and developed an encaustic technique worked with a knife before painting with oil and heating with a blowtorch, which gives her canvases a particularly expressive rendering.

More recently, and in the same vein, the Canadian painter Antonin Solecik introduced her to MPO (master past original - fresh wax miscible with oil), which gives her large formats a mysterious depth.

Pascale Thovex's paintings are marked by a palpable communion with the animals she depicts, whose gentle gaze charged with positive energy makes us feel what is essential and gives us access to that secret part of ourselves that goes beyond immediate appearances.

Under a friendly exterior, she shares with us her questions about the beauty of the universe and the meaning of life. She is a bridge between Man, the ontological mystery and Nature.
