Annecy, the lake and the old town


No more than 30 minutes from St Jean de Sixt, the city of Annecy, the lake, the beautiful old town and the mountains surroundings have seduced visitors for more than a century. Appreciate the exceptional landscape extended from north to south that is to say from the town of Annecy to the Faverges area where are located nature reserves of Le Bout du Lac and Le Roc de Chere.

The city
Annecy is the capital of Haute-Savoie region. Situated along the famous lake, at the bottom of the mountains, the city is classified as an Agglomeration of Art and History. Annecy offers a unique architectural set, between the past and the present. Take your time along the Thiou canal, let yourself be charmed by the old town of Annecy, called the Venice of the Alps.

The lake and the joy of water.
Annecy Lake can be compared to a waterside resort thanks the wondeful beaches, the sports activities and all the attractions. The blue waters contrast with the brilliant green alpine meadows high in the background. Bathing in the still waters, water sports, cruises, and boat trips are some of those many ways to enjoythe lake.

The villages on the edges of the lake (Talloires, Veyrier, Saint-Jorioz, Duingt, Doussard), the museums and chateaux are reachable by foot or on bicycle.

The mountains's surrounding
The topography of the surroundings of Lake Annecy is mountainous, to the delight of the mountain bikers, hikers and paraglider pilots.
The take off sites at the Forclaz and Planfait are some of the most used in the whole world. These are areas which have excellent conditions to fly, offering a georgous panorama as well.
