Historical Site of Glières Plateau

The Glières Plateau is situated at an altitude of 1440 meters. From the end of january to 26th march 1944, 500 men hiding on the plateau to receive arms. They were commanded by lietenant Tom MOREL and Captain Maurice ANJOT.

The historic path is a discovery path lasting approx 2 hours at the centre of the plateau and retraces the organisation and the daily life of the batallion of the Glieres.

The Glières Monument was built in 1973 by Emile Gilliol, following the initiative of the surviviors of the Glieres. It symolises resistance and hope. Inside the monument can be seen other works by the artist.
