Skiing in St Jean de Sixt began in 1961. Mr Perrard asked for permission from the town council to install a ski lift below the Mont Durand. At the same time local skiers created the ski club. The ski club is still an activity that generate a substantial income for the Saint-Jean de Sixt village.
Then, in 1971 the Mont Durand ski lift was moved to the Cret, on a more spacious land and a mini-ski lift got installed. Finally, in 1974 to deal with the growing demand, the "Société d'Equipement Touristique" bought a tracked vehicle and a roller.
This calm and pleasant little resort is perfect for people from all generations who want to discover a low priced skiing !

On september 21st 2021, the Crêt ski lift has been disassembled as part of the abandonned ski lift removal decive, established by "Domaines Skiables de France".
