The Geneva Bay
If the Rhône is the backbone of Geneva, the harbor is certainly the best-known face, with its famous water jet.

The Geneva water jet
It found its final place in the harbor in 1891. It is equipped with a pumping station propelling 500 liters of water per second to 140 meters high and 200 km/h.

The Nations Palace
The United Nations headquarters, since 1946, is located in the heart of a vast wooded park overhanging the lake. It is the second largest United Nations center after the New York one.

Yvoire

Yvoire, on the shore of Lake Léman.
Medieval village, Yvoire is already a lordship when Amédée V, Count of Savoie, decide in the beginning of the 14th century to make it an impregnable fortress.
It is good nowadays to go through the little streets which go down to the shore.
This town, which is a member of the organization of the Most Beautiful Villages of France, has celebrate is 700th anniversary in 2006.

In 1915, the baron Pierre de Coubertin, choose Lausanne to settle the headquarter of the International Olympic Committee  on the Committee June 23rd 1994.

Its Cathedral
In the heart of the city, the Lausanne Cathedral majestically overlooks the city. It's considered as one of the most beautiful monument of the european gothic art.

By boat
To reach Switzerland, the easiest way is to take a boat from Evian or Thonon to arrive to the city of Lausanne.
